| Carlson: 7-year-old survivor faces death without bone marrow donor
The back door slammed, and perky, smiling Maddie Landwehr, home from school, ran straight into the living room and hugged her dad. The 7-year-old girl gobbled down three chocolate chip mini-muffins, did a cartwheel and told her parents, again, that she wants to go to Disneyland. Amazing, given what this child has gone through, what she endures every day, and what she faces. "Maddie has had nine surgeries," said her dad, Ernie Landwehr. "No," said Maddie. "Ten." .

The Bravia W-series first debuted way back in 2007. These full-HD LCDs complemented their flagship X-series counterparts, offering comparable hard specs but fell short aesthetics-wise. Nevertheless, the generation-two have definitely addressed this design deficiency with a belated but refreshing makeover. There's more than meets the eye, too. Sony has raised the bar by overhauling the underlying electronics to further boost performance as well as connectivity. Upside: .

Wilco transcends "dad rock" in sold-out show
A well-rounded set aimed to please with choice selections from the group's back pages, too, including "Too Far Apart" from Wilco's 1995 debut, "A.M," and the twinkling "California Stars," top vote-getter in an online request poll. The band also dug deep into its 1999 masterpiece "Summerteeth," yielding bracing renditions of two all-time great Wilco tunes, "She's a Jar" and "Shot in the Arm." The title track also made a rare live appearance. After rising from the ashes of Uncle Tupelo more than a decade ago, Wilco branched out beyond its alt-country roots to embrace a range of styles. From album to album, these restless wanderers -- America's answer to England's Radiohead, some say -- have been completely unpredictable, yet consistently rewarding. And so it was in concert.
News Of The Day
More importantly, when all is said and done, I have to wake up in the morning and look myself in the face. I am proud of how hard I worked, the reasons I ran, and the way I conducted myself. In short, I end this campaign with my self-respect and integrity intact. I entered this race not because of my personal ambitions but because of my passion for justice and an overwhelming desire to see this county's system of justice work better than it has. Because of this, I have called Rich to congratulate him in his victory, and want him and everyone else to know that it is my sincere hope that he is able to succeed in bringing much needed changes to our justice system, and in the way the District Attorney's office works. Many people have asked me what I intend to do now.

Dallas McCade survives, though she might end up at Kicks. I spoke too soon about it being a quiet day. (See my previous blog entry.) Instead, we've got what is already being dubbed the Leap Day Massaacre. Management at Eagles and Kicks Friday dumped nearly the entire on-air staff in what appears to be a severe cost-cutting measure. The only major survivors: Cadillac Jack, Dallas McCade and Bill Celler. I hear traffic guy Greg Talmadge will remain, too. Gone? Veteran Kicks news man Jim Vann, Eagle morning man Rhubarb Jones, Kicks morning co-host Kristen Gates, Kicks afternoon DJ Wylie Rose, Eagle afternoon jock Steve Mitchell and Eagle mid-day gal Sandy Weaver, Kicks night-time jock Scotty O'Brien, and promotions guru Buck in the Truck, to name a few.

ID theft inquiry after death of pedestrian
(Editor's Note: Northwest Airlines initially told the P-I last Friday that the suspect was not an employee of the company. It later confirmed that he was. Earlier versions of this article reflected the original, erroneous information.) Seattle police were investigating whether a driver suspected of killing a pedestrian in a Central Area intersection last month is an identity thief after several stolen credit cards and a list of credit card numbers were found in his vehicle, according to court documents. The 24-year-old man also may have stolen a Minnesota woman's credit cards to buy a $1,500 television, which was loaded in the back of his 2001 Jeep Cherokee, according to a search warrant affidavit filed in King County Superior Court. Police found the items, including the television, on Jan.
